thinking about billy-ray and tanith makes me sad more than anything
cause he really does love her and is willing to ‘wait’ for her to be able to love him back but she can’t because she’s not really her
and although they do have a sexual relationship they dont have a romantic one or really a friendship and if he stops being useful to her she will leave him
and billy-ray is just?? hes replaceable to her even though he loves her so much and when/if she comes back from being a remnant she wont even think about him before she goes back to join skul to bring val back
we seriously give the reflection a lot of crap for doing what it was told to do
like all it ever wanted to do was what it was meant to- protect val’s family and be val when she wasn’t around
and yeah it did go to some extremes that werent needed (at all), but the motivation behind those actions was to be able to further protect its family in the long run
(but what character hasnt done questionable things in these books?)
not to mention that it didnt really have any reason to hide things from valkyrie until after she misused it, and even then it wasn’t really for selfish reasons??
what i’m getting at is that i feel like the reflection is kinda underappreciated in a sense for all it does (/did) to help val and her family
what if val’s surge is the thing that makes darquesse go all-out murderous on her family
the surge is meant to be a ton of magical power right?
and that + what she’s already got is enough to throw someone off their rocker (even further than she already is)
about halfway through the series val gets sick and tired of her stupid hair getting in the way and falling out of its ponytails when she’s fighting so she cuts it the hell off and rocks it short
there have been numerous dead men orgies and nobody can convince me otherwise
