Let’s be honest the Dead Men probably have crazy good footwork when it comes to dancing together and they totally show off at any Requiem Ball.

plot twist: Darquesse is caught by the soul catcher and the series ends with her screaming ‘let me out y’all motherfuckers’
OH something i forgot to mention is that a persistent theme throughout the sp series is that power corrupts
valkyrie is not punished for her strength by becoming a villain. i mean, it’s a very obvious BAD THING
but! she is a) a successful villain and b) NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS HAPPENS TO.
skulduggery, erskine, tanith, and thurid guild have all been villains at one time, LIKE VALKYRIE. guild and erskine are less successful villains, tanith is a reasonably successful villain and skulduggery is a very lucky reformed villain, but Valkyrie is not the only one who is corrupted by power!
the thing is, female characters if they get strength or power can end up getting punished by the author/narrative for having that strength (this isn’t necessarily a conscious decision on the author’s part, but it can be). they can die, become unsuccessful villains (usually with a much shorter duration of success than other unsuccessful but male villains), or otherwise be brought low
this has not happened to darquesse (or tanith, come to think of it)
no but PLEASE imagine tanith setting billy-ray’s ringtone to my shiny teeth and me because it brings me ENDLESS JOY

au where Carol gets to lead a life like Valkyrie’s. Valkyrie never starts using magic or anything she stays Stephanie and never becomes Valkyrie and her reflection never NEVER STEPS OUT OF THAT GODDAMN MIRROR
I mean one thing that annoys me is that Valkyrie’s parents are amazing. They’re adorable. The main protagonist never seems to have sucky parents the way that Carol does.
I’m sorry, but I want a series with Carol having to deal with her parents etc. That’s what I want.
